A large crowd of obnoxious football players decided to get in front of me in line today, and I burnt a bit watching their coarse movement and hearing their loud noise. One of the louder but shorter players kept shouting to his ignoring friends that he needed 10¢. Begrudgingly I held out a dime until he saw it, whereupon I held it happily. He only made eye contact for a second, said thanks more quickly than I thought possible, and made sure not to be seen too much. But I know it was felt, if just for a moment.
